Visualizing hot and cold click zones on a webpage

A nice little tool for visualizing visitor behaviour is the free tool clickheat from labsmedia. After installing it on a directory on the webserver (e.g. /clickheat/) and inserting a small JavaScript code in the source code of the pages that you want to measure it will log visitor's clicks on your page and display them on a transparent layer on your webpage in form of a heatmap. "Hot" areas are displayed in red color, and cold zones will be displayed in blue color.

This kind of statistical visualisation can assist your decision making process regarding the correct placement of certain elements on your page.
