First it is necessary to speak the language of the targeted audience. In contrast to printed magazines it could be a mistake trying to use the scientifically correct terms. Keywords that are not widely known and used for search queries cannot be found, if nobody searches for them. On the other hand only keywords that are mentioned on a page can deliver hints for Google that this page could be related to a certain topic. The main point is to be aware of the goals of a search engine that Udi Manber describes from the viewpoint of Google:
